Luxury watch manufacture A. Lange & Sohne recently received a fine accolade from Mytime magazine, a German watch publication geared towards women. At the conclusion of the voting, A. Lange & Sohne's opulent Little Lange 1 Soiree timepiece had edged out 24 competing high-end watches, taking the jury's top prize in the "Extravagant" category.

"Extravagant" would certainly be an appropriate term to describe the Little Lange 1 Soiree, which employs an enchanting combination of precious 18K white gold, natural mother of pearl, and sparkling round brilliant diamonds to offer up an uncompromisingly feminine vision of what is arguably A. Lange & Sohne's most iconic wristwatch. Beyond the spectacular workmanship and icy perfection of the diamond-setting, the Soiree delivers what connoisseurs of fine timepieces inevitably expect from anything A. Lange & Sohne-- namely, a superbly crafted manufacture movement crafted in accordance with the best traditions of Saxon haute horlogerie.
This reference certainly does not disappoint in that respect. As with the larger Lange 1 models, the 36.8mm Lange 1 Soiree features a sapphire crystal exhibition window in its white gold caseback. Through this window appears the now-legendary Calibre L901.4, a movement lauded equally by connoisseurs for its sophisticated technical elements (indication of the power reserve, off-centered time display, and the patented Lange outsized date) and its enviable degree of aesthetic refinement. These signatures of classical German high-grade watchmaking include bridges in German silver with a ribbed finish, a hand-engraved balance cock with a swan-neck fine adjustment, and jewels set in golden chatons with elegant triads of blued steel screws.
